Image Comparison Pro

Pro feature

This feature requires a Pro licence. Activate your licence to unlock it.

Supported formats

PNG, JPEG/JPG, SVG, and other common raster and vector formats.

Opening an image comparison

Open a comparison tab and set both sides to image files. Diffract detects the image format and switches to the image comparison view automatically.

The heatmap view

The default view shows both images side by side with a difference heatmap overlay on the right side. Pixels that differ between the two images are coloured by the magnitude of the difference: subtle changes appear in a cooler colour; large changes (missing elements, moved content) appear in a bright warm colour.

Use the heatmap to quickly spot:

  • UI changes in screenshots (moved buttons, changed text, added elements)
  • Diagram revisions
  • Regressions in generated image outputs

The overlay slider

Below the heatmap, an overlay slider blends between the left and right image. Drag it from 0% (full left) to 100% (full right) to compare the two versions by eye. This is useful for spotting subtle positional shifts that the heatmap colours may not make obvious.

Identical images

If both sides are pixel-identical, the heatmap is blank and a confirmation banner appears.
