Licence¶
Pro licences are available at www.getdiffract.com.
Licence Tiers¶

| Free | Default. Core file and directory comparison with all three algorithms and ignore toggles. |
| Pro | Single- or multi-user licence. Unlocks Pro features including advanced comparison modes and ignore profiles. |
Checking Your Current Status¶
- Open Settings (gear icon in the title bar).
- Go to Licence.
The panel shows your current tier badge, the number of seats, and the list of enabled features.
Activating a Key¶
- Open Settings → Licence.
- Paste your licence key into the input field. Keys start with
DIFF-. - Click Activate or press Enter.
Validation is instant and fully offline - no internet connection is required.
On success: the tier badge and feature chips update immediately to reflect your new licence.
On failure: an error message appears below the button. The key field retains your input so you can correct it and try again.
Common Errors¶
| Error | Cause |
|---|---|
| "Invalid signature" | The key is malformed or was issued for a different application. Check that you copied the full key including the DIFF- prefix. |
| "Key not valid for this app version" | The key was issued with a version ceiling below the current app version. Contact support for an updated key. |
| "Licence revoked" | The key has been revoked. Contact support. |
Persistence¶
The activated key is stored locally in the app's preferences. Re-activation is not required after updates or restarts. If you reinstall the app on the same machine, paste your key again to reactivate.
7-Day Pro Trial¶
If no key is activated, a Start Trial button appears in the Licence panel. Clicking it grants full Pro access for 7 days at no cost.
- The trial is tied to the installation and cannot be restarted once it expires.
- During the trial, all Pro features are available with no restrictions.
- When the trial expires, the app reverts to the Free tier. Your files and settings are unaffected.
